LOCATION:  Start at the Rift Gallery

COST:  FREE (You will want to bring shopping money!)

Please register to receive handouts and other important information.  See below for registration instructions.

MISSION:  Five ceramic galleries, 58 miles of travel, hundreds of possible tea utensils by local artists to explore.

A great pleasure of Tea study in America is seeking locally made crafts for use in the tea room.  Ceramics, especially, is where the creativity of ceramic artists and tea people have met, and many friendships have arisen.  At the same time, there are a number of technical specifications that a ceramic piece must satisfy in order to be usable as a tea utensil.  For the "Taos Pottery Crawl" join us for a super-fun-filled day of exploring Taos ceramic arts, and practice in looking at ceramics as possible tea utensils.

THE DAY'S PROGRAM:  We will gather at the Rift Gallery (2249 NM Highway 68/Rinconda, NM) in the Rio Grande Gorge (south of Taos,) and see the work of Chado NM member Betsy Williams.  Then visit another gallery up Taos Canyon before having a picnic lunch break in Taos.  (Please bring your own picnic lunch.)  Continuing north, we will visit three more ceramic galleries, ending in the beautiful and tiny village of Arroyo Seco.  There is a nice spot next to a small river (and ice cream factory) to make and enjoy tea at the end of the day's journey in Arroyo Seco.  With six stops and 58 miles to travel, we will not be spending a huge amount of time at any one place.

TO REGISTER:  Open to all Chado NM members and their guests.  Please email Austin:  austinkathy@lamanet.us  You will receive some important information back by email, and then handouts at the beginning of the event.
